Directing

As someone who shoots and edits, my move into directing seemed the inevitable, bringing together all my experiences and skills. Part of that learning experience was watching the amazingly talented producers and directors I got to work with over my career.

When directing I am constantly drawing on my experiences as a DP, but mostly I am bringing into play my time as an editor to tell me what works, and crucially what does not and what is possible in the edit. Not only does it mean I can find creative ways to tell stories but it means my shoots are efficient and productive.

I have directed many broadcasts sequences for shows such as  Tonight With Trevor McDonald for ITV and 4 x 4 for the BBC and  have been credited as a shooting AP on a series of ITVs Love Your Garden.

In the corporate world, I have directed a wide range of projects for a diverse range of clients including the NHS Modernisation Agency, BBC Events and Nestle, as well as a vast array of work for a host of smaller lesser know companies.

Editing

I have been editing professionally since I started working as an ENG Camera op/Editor. My experience covers everything from short news packages to hour long docs. I am proficient in most of the main editing platforms including Final Cut Pro 7, FCP X, Resolve and Premier.

This page has a couple of examples of my work as an editor and director but please get in touch for links to more recent material that is not currently online.
